Rothko artwork vandalised

I found this story, about a man who vandalised a painting by Mark Rothko located in the Tate Modern, exceptionally interesting. Rothko is a famous American painter whose works are worth 'tens of millions of pounds.' He is considered a master of modernism.

The vandal described his acts as being like those of Marcel Duchamp. Most interesting, however, is that the vandal has declared himseld to be a huge Rothko enthusiast, stating that "Rothko is such a powerful artist. There will never be another Rothko in the world." The man who has professed to be the vandal is named Vladimir Umanets and is the founder of a movement called, "Yellowism."

The man's actions raise many questions worthy of contemplation. Most profound, in my opinion, is the question, whether the artwork was defaced by a vandal, or progressed upon by an avant-garde artist? Indeed the line between what is classified as art and what is not in postmodernism is hazy (as such an occurence indicates).
