Embracing the rejected

American visual concept artist, Chad Wys embraces the rejected. His quirky artworks consist of vintage and second-hand objects which he deconstructs and transforms into pieces of modern art. Talking about the meaning of his artwork, the artist on his website states the following: "My readymade work frequently deal with the re-contextualization of decorative art objects. By retooling the object and then re-presenting it before the viewer I intent to add new layers to the conversation that takes place between the observer and the object in its original state. By reclaiming these objects I mean to acknowledge how our possessions (can/do) define us." In creating his works, Wys experiments bodily with composition, colour and form.

What I love about this artist's work is the way he juxtaposes the old and the new. Many are unable to see the beauty that Wys recognises in the objects he re-creates and as such he can be seen to be an artist who very much embraces the rejected (well, at least in my opinion).
